Glyn Bampfield - LeRoc Southend
When moving to London in the mid 90’s I stumbled across the phenomenon Modern Jive. I was invited to an evening of LeRoc at Notre Dame Hall, Leicester Square by some friends, and from that night my life changed. I was hooked on the partner dance. I ended up dancing at various venues across London, sometimes dancing 4 nights a week.
I concentrated on the LeRoc style and studied under Michel Ange Lau and his brother Louis back in the late 90’s and became a member of their LeRoc dance troupe.
I was also a member of the LeRoc Children Nationwide Group and helped out as a Dance Crew Member at Battersea Arts Centre on a Monday night.
In 1997 Michel invited me to his first Teacher Training Course, which I found very thorough, particularly on technique. I’m glad to say that I passed and became a member of the newly formed ‘Society of LeRoc Dance Teachers’.
During the same year I worked with Michel on the production of his ‘Original LeRoc Dance Manual’.
Over the years I have continued to dance and teach - always maintaining what Michel and Louis taught me.
Now based in the Southend area of Essex, it is my intention to continue teaching Original LeRoc.
See Classes for details.
